This new building with industrial appearance of a concrete masonry unit (CMU) as basic aesthetic as part of the new design for Desert Regional Center’s community. The new Nursing Therapy Facility building construction will be durable, fireproof and transform the performance of a building envelope with a range of textured to create contemporary CMU design.

Their mission is to provide long-term care facility that offers a variety of services for people with intellectual disabilities, mental health conditions or declining health.

The new facility provides 4,900 sf inpatient Rehabilitation facility that include nursing facility,  a new Rehabilitation Gym and ADL (Activities of Daily Living) and a new therapy garden which provides services for physical therapy and occupational therapy. This new facility is designed for and used for patients and residents in Desert Regional Center community who have experienced the debilitating effects of an acute injury, impairment, or illness, and with this new improved facility will help many individuals to go through specialized treatment programs.

The new therapy garden is no explicit “healing garden” but rather a whole series of landscape space for rejuvenation but can be also use for outdoor therapy program. The interior architecture that inspired by natural light and this building makes strategic use of glass in order to provide daylight into Gym and ADL area from North and South glazing and while the landscape from Therapy Garden will minimize solar heat gain from the summer heat.
